What is Beef Tallow?

  • Why it’s better than seed oils: Stable at high heat, no oxidation.
  • Storage tips: Store sealed at room temp (cool/dry place) or refrigerate for extended freshness.

 

Uses for Beef Tallow

  • Cooking: Frying, roasting vegetables, searing meats, pan-frying eggs.
  • Baking: Replace butter/shortening in savory pastries or pie crusts.
  • Seasoning cast iron: Creates a natural non-stick surface.
  • Skin care: Natural moisturizer, lip balm base, healing salve.
  • Outdoor use: Lubricates hinges, conditions leather, waterproofing.


Beef Tallow Recipe #1 – Roasted Veggies

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs mixed vegetables (carrots, potatoes, Brussels sprouts)
  • 2–3 tbsp beef tallow
  • Salt, pepper, herbs to taste

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F.
  2. Toss veggies with melted tallow, salt, and herbs.
  3. Roast 25–35 min until golden and crisp.

 

Beef Tallow Recipe #2 – Cast Iron Seared Steak

Ingredients:

  • 1 ribeye or New York strip steak
  • 1 tbsp beef tallow
  • Salt and pepper

Directions:

  1. Heat cast iron skillet until very hot.
  2. Add tallow, let melt and shimmer.
  3. Sear steak 2–3 min per side, rest before slicing.

  • Versatility: Cooking, baking, dressings, marinades, skincare.

 

Uses for Avocado Oil

  • High-heat cooking: Grilling, stir-frying, sautéing.
  • Dressings & marinades: Pairs well with citrus, herbs, vinegar.
  • Baking: Replace other oils for a light flavor.
  • Skin & hair: Moisturizer, hair mask, massage oil.

 

Avocado Oil Recipe #1 – Homemade Mayo

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg (room temp)
  • 1 cup avocado oil
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice or vinegar
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Salt to taste

Directions:

  1. Add all ingredients to a tall jar.
  2. Blend with immersion blender until thick and creamy.


Avocado Oil Recipe #2 – Simple Salad Dressing

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup avocado oil
  • ¼ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • Salt & pepper

Directions:

  1. Whisk all ingredients together until emulsified.

 

Avocado Oil Recipe #3 – Garlic & Herb Marinade

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup avocado oil
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fresh herbs (basil, rosemary, thyme)
  • Salt & pepper

Directions:

  1. Mix all ingredients.
  2. Marinate chicken, fish, or veggies for 30 min–2 hours before cooking.

 

Safety & Storage

  • Beef Tallow: Store in a cool, dry place; refrigerate for long-term.
  • Avocado Oil: Store in a cool, dry place away from light to prevent oxidation.
  • All infused oils must be made with completely dry ingredients or refrigerated if using fresh herbs/garlic.
